What is the Sport + Sport Plus (Sport Chrono) upgrade?

• The Sport Chrono upgrade retrofits original Porsche Sport Chrono functionality to vehicles that were not factory-optioned with this package. It unlocks Sport and Sport Plus driving modes, Launch Control, and the Sport Response button, with full OEM-level system integration.

Which Porsche models are supported?

• This upgrade is available for the following models:

 

Models that do NOT require PIWIS coding

• Porsche Macan (2019 and later)

 

Models that DO require PIWIS coding

• Porsche 718 (Cayman & Boxster)

• Porsche 911 (991.1 / 991.2 / 992)

• Porsche Cayenne (2019 and later)

• Porsche Panamera (2017 and later)

• All Porsche Taycan models

 

What driving modes will be enabled?

• After installation, the following modes become available:

• Normal Mode – Balanced comfort for daily driving

• Sport Mode – Sharper throttle response and sportier gear shifts

• Sport Plus Mode – Maximum performance with:

• Instant throttle response

• Faster gear shifts at higher RPM

• Firmer suspension on PASM-equipped vehicles

• Reduced stability control intervention for experienced drivers

• All selected modes are displayed directly in the instrument cluster, identical to factory Sport Chrono vehicles.

 

Does this upgrade include Launch Control?

• Yes.
  Launch Control is enabled on PDK-equipped vehicles, allowing maximum acceleration from a standstill.

 

What is the Sport Response button?

• The Sport Response button activates 30 seconds of peak performance, optimizing engine and transmission response.
  This feature is available on PDK-equipped models and is ideal for overtaking or spirited driving.

Does Macan require PIWIS coding?

• No.
  For Porsche Macan (2019+), Sport Chrono can be fully activated using our proprietary activation module, with no PIWIS coding required.

 

Why do other Porsche models require PIWIS coding?

• For 718, 911, Cayenne, Panamera, and Taycan models, Porsche requires PIWIS coding to:

• Register Sport Chrono functions in factory control units

• Enable Sport / Sport Plus logic correctly

• Activate Launch Control and Sport Response (where applicable)

• Ensure proper integration with PASM, PDCC, PDK, and stability systems

• PIWIS is Porsche’s official diagnostic and programming system and ensures factory-correct operation.

Can PIWIS coding be done remotely?

• Yes.
  Remote activation is supported when PIWIS equipment is available.

• If you do not have a PIWIS system:

• We can loan a PIWIS unit (fees and refundable bond apply), or

• Coding can be completed by a qualified workshop with PIWIS access

What retrofit options are available for Porsche Macan?

Macan (2019–2021)

• Option 1 – $1,699
  Steering wheel center cover + Chrono button + activation module

  Carbon steering wheel assembly (modules pre-installed)

Macan (2022 and later)

  Full steering wheel assembly, pre-activated (plug-and-play)

  Activation module with aftermarket Chrono button (no trim replacement)

Can Sport Chrono be enabled by only changing the button or steering wheel?

• No.
  Simply adding a Chrono button or replacing the steering wheel will not enable Sport Chrono functionality.
  A dedicated activation module (and PIWIS coding where required) is essential.

Is this equivalent to factory Sport Chrono?

• Yes.
  Once installed and activated, the system behaves the same as factory Sport Chrono, including:

• Instrument cluster display

• Driving mode logic

• Integration with PASM, PDCC, PDK, and stability control systems

Will this affect vehicle warranty or system stability?

• No.
  The retrofit:

• Does not modify ECU firmware

• Uses OEM-level integration methods

• Maintains system stability and reversibility
