For Porsche and Audi, whether wireless CarPlay works depends on the country the car was configured for. The VW Touareg is the exception. On the third-generation Touareg (CR platform, 2019 onward, MH2P system), wireless CarPlay is disabled by default in every region worldwide. So no matter where your Touareg was bought or is used, CarPlay only works with a cable — until it is activated.

The hardware is there — the feature is simply switched off

Your Touareg already has the 5 GHz Wi-Fi hardware that wireless CarPlay needs; Volkswagen just does not enable the function from the factory. We turn it on in software, so wireless CarPlay works natively on the standard Touareg screen.
